This song marks the clear transition between the first and second "acts" of the album story. In this song, I have been sober for three or four months. I'm sitting on a porch right next to the tracks in a nowhere desert town. The rest of the album marks a narrative departure, in that it is not so oriented on the past (i.e. things that happened before getting sober).
